Do you know it is VERY impolite to “show up empty handed” ? I see this time and time again. If someone goes to the thought, trouble and expense to invite you to their function, show a gesture of appreciation for extending the hand of friendship, by bringing a small gift, such as a bottle of wine, a gift basket, anything you can easily afford, that you think they would like.

Flowers are discouraged, as then the host has to go find a vase, and takes them away from their host duties.

Make an effort, show people apprieation for their efforts. Its all about respect. You like to be shown respect, right ?
