I liked Oasis since their Wonderwall video, circa 95 ish. They looked like cheeky Mancunians ( someone from the City of Manchester, England) and their “rough, working class” accents coming through on every song. I liked these lads. Liam the frontman and Noel, his long suffering brother, and ever changing band mates, make up Oasis. Saw them at Universal, circa 1998 ( ? forgot ! ) front row pit standing room only. Great show….Lasts nights show, not so much -
Got 3 rd row floor in front of the stage – (FLR 3 row 3 and seat 14. Isle, to be exact), which I love for dancing, and doing my best Liam ( lead singer ) impersonations. We were assigned a mean security lady, who had the charm of a Correctional Officer, at a maximum security prison. Standing arms folded, and every time my high heeled Manolo boot went 1 ” outside the line, I was chastised. Then these “chancers” blagged( stole ) empty seats, and one by one they were escorted out, some went freely, some put up a fight. One guy went Mike Tyson on security, average middle aged guy, frog marched, by an army of “off duty Sheriff” looking 250lb + bruisers. Worst part, a spot light on him and his “manhandlers”, as he was dragged kicking and screaming up the long staircases up towards the exit. Wonder how he is feeling today ? A guy in the same row assisted in the eviction, returned to his seat to a hero’s welcome. Was this why Liam left the stage, to go find the guy and “sort him out” ? As Liam kept taking off, leaving the stage, leaving everyone, including his band wondering – what the hell is going on ?. I remember on YouTube video of an angry fan forcing his way onstage and attacking Noel, maybe that is why ? He was so annoyed at spending a fortune on tickets, only to be at the mercy of Liam’s mood swings. Discreet security all in black, where at every corner of the stage, ready for any attempted Ninja style attacks. Noel the older, and I’ll say wiser brother, had to “pick up the slack “for his temperamental brother, anmd sing several songs solo. The where some redeeming classic Oasis moments, in between Liam’s M.I.A’s and LAPD Swat team security maneuvers, to toss out the self seat upgraders. When Liam did decide to sing, a few of my all time favs, I sung as loud as I could and today, my throat is sore. At one point, Liam stands right in front of my row and just starts staring at me, giving his “hard man” evil eye look. Everyone looks, I’m scared, and the guy behind says “I think that’s his bird ” I would rather be his stylist, therapist, and manager, as these lads, our boy Liam in particular, need a little Minxy guidance.
Stylist Minx – these boys come on stage like they are dressed to go to a football match, come on boys, make an effort, you are multi-millionaire Rock Stars after all.
Minxy Poppins – Charm School Stat – spitting on stage, acting like you don’t want to be there, and going off in a strop ( bad mood ), just plain RUDE.
Therapist Minx – You’ve got the World at your feet, what exactly do you have to be anrgy and pissed off about ? Can you be anry and pissed off after the concert please
Manager – I would book you in a smaller venue, and make Liam sign a legal document, that a concert requires you to be onstage. Stunts like last night are bad P.R = which results in making less money.
I felt sorry for rest of the band, 2 young lads on guitar, who got no introduction looked on edge, maybe Liam would beat them up, just because. Then there was Shroud…yep, that’s his name. This long haired bearded Jesus looking dude on keyboard, he would leave the stage too. Probably to smoke a joint.
Concert ends and its time to see where the party is – pass in hand, myself and my Brit pal, snaggle puss our way to the backstage gathering. Surprise, Surprise, Liam, was no where to be found. Perhaps sulking in a corner, his poor brother, trying to talk him into making an appearance at his own party.
My Posh British Mum/Mom was not surprised by my concert re-cap. Seems the Gallegher boys are always in the British papers for something un-minxworthy.
